about

Eden was inspired to write this song after the solar eclipse the same summer as Owen's death. The final line of the song refers to Reid's parents. The chorus was literally written during the eclipse itself as a jam with Dogtooth and Nail and our friend Piper as well as many others on that camping trip to witness the event.

lyrics

Mighta lost the sun but we didn’t lose the light
Mighta lost the sun but we didn’t lose the light
Mighta lost the sun and we’re in the darkest night
Mighta lost the sun but we’re going to see the light

Rivers keep a-rollin down the hills of your sweet face
Tectonic shifts keep rumblin my nerves can’t settle any place
Tornado round it touched the ground topsy-turved the city
Take a look around we’re upside down and feeling pretty shitty

Mighta lost the sun but we didn’t lose the light
Mighta lost the sun but we didn’t lose the light
Mighta lost the sun and we’re in the darkest night
Mighta lost the sun but we’re going to see the light

Our emerald green forest all summer it did burn
Now scorched and black just like a heart replaced the past and yearns
Hey there hun what have ya done please put that record back
Can’t help my ways it seems these days my brain plays just one track

Mighta lost the sun but we didn’t lose the light
Mighta lost the sun but we didn’t lose the light
Mighta lost the sun and we’re in the darkest night
Mighta lost the sun but we’re going to see the light

Where can one get started repairin what’s undone
When the officials leave and the sermons sung and we’re out there on our own
Town’s a mess we’re supposed to do our best we’ll muddle our way through it
And you’ll look to me and I’ll look to you
You’ll look to me and I’ll look to you
You’ll look to me and I’ll look to you and we’ll try try try
You’ll look to me and I’ll look to you and we’ll cry cry cry
You’ll look to me and I’ll look to you and ask why why why
You’ll look to me and I’ll look to you and we will find the light

Mighta lost the sun but we didn’t lose the light
Mighta lost the sun but we didn’t lose the light
Mighta lost the sun and we’re in the darkest night
Mighta lost the sun but we’re going to see the light
Mighta lost the sun but we’re going to see the light
Mighta lost your son but you’re going to see the light
